PROJECTS
The German Society for Maritime Emergency Management (GMN) is continuously improving its services and procedures, expanding its offerings for customers. To meet this standard, the Emergency Response Centre for Offshore Wind Farms (NOW) is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and DIN EN 50518 Category II and undergoes regular audits. This ensures a high quality standard is maintained across all of our projects.
Our projects emerge from incident and drill debriefings, feedback from NOW, and the needs and requests of our customers – with whom we collaborate closely and communicate regularly. GMN demonstrates its commitment to patient care through its projects.
HEMSA App
For our customers, GMN provides the HEMSA app (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service Availability). This app has been tailormade and developed in house. The app graphically and transparently displays the availability of HEMS providers depending on weather conditions.
It offers users a real-time overview of the available rescue resources, allowing precise coordination of offshore activities. By doing so, GMN contributes to offshore safety and helps to implement the ‘no HEMS, no work’ principle effectively.
GMN’s service package for offshore wind farm operators includes this application. If you are interested in access or receiving further information, feel free to contact us or use the HEMSA app registration form.
A tutorial on how to use the HEMSA app can be found in the download section.
TETRA
In an emergency, every second counts – and this is particularly important if longer distances have to be overcome.
GMN’s goal is to enable direct, uninterrupted communication between offshore wind farm personnel in need of assistance and the Emergency Response Centre for Offshore Wind Farms in Bremen.
Traditionally, this communication has been established via a simple phone connection to NOW, or through the operators’ radio network. The most effective and widely available method for direct emergency communication is TETRA operational radio. Using the emergency button on a handheld radio, a simplex or duplex connection can be established between NOW, the operator’s control centre, and the person in need of assistance.
Key advantages:
✔ Direct communication reduces dispatch times for rescue teams
✔ Immediate first aid guidance can be provided
✔ Precise preliminary diagnosis helps to optimise preparation for incoming rescue crews
If your wind farm is not yet connected to NOW via operational radio, please feel free to contact us.
