Drills and incident debriefing
Every operator of an offshore wind farm, offshore converter platform, or offshore accommodation platform is required to conduct a rescue drill once a year in collaboration with the Emergency Response Centre for Offshore Wind Farms (NOW) and its HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) provider.
Additionally, GMN recommends regular communication drills to further optimise procedures. Experience has shown that these exercises are particularly valuable, as they significantly improve responsiveness and strengthen trust in emergency processes.
GMN continuously enhances and expands its incident and drill debriefing processes. The post-exercise evaluations provide valuable insights (‘lessons learned’) that contribute to improving existing procedures or to introducing new approaches.
After every operation, the responsible NOW dispatcher conducts a short debriefing with the HEMS crew involved and the operator’s control centre. However, this exchange does not replace further coordination with higher-level entities, which is necessary to maintain and continuously develop quality standards.
