Prepared for the Real Emergency – Training in Offshore Emergency Communication
In a medical or technical emergency, every second counts. To ensure that communication between offshore wind farms, control centers, and all involved parties remains reliable even under extreme pressure, we have developed a hands-on, realistic training concept for offshore emergency management.
Through realistic scenarios and tabletop exercises, participants practice acting confidently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner—even under stress. They learn to make well-founded decisions and to communicate relevant information clearly, completely, and appropriately to the target audience. The training is based on the principles of Crew Resource Management (CRM), existing Emergency Response Plans (ERP), and elements of Psychosocial Emergency Care (PSNV).
A special focus is placed on dealing with psychological stress in exceptional situations—both for those affected and for emergency responders. Participants are sensitized to recognize stress reactions at an early stage, respond appropriately, and promote psychological stability within the team.
Training Objectives
- Confidence in action during critical and complex emergency situations
- Effective, structured, and stress-resilient communication
- Strengthening teamwork, role clarity, and assumption of responsibility
- Safe decision-making under time pressure
- Awareness of psychological stress and fundamentals of psychosocial emergency care (PSNV)
The training is aimed at wind farm operators, incident managers, dispatchers, and other stakeholders in the offshore environment. It specifically strengthens professional, communication, and psychosocial competencies—for fast, clear, and coordinated collaboration between offshore units and control centers.
